Fall Pumpkins!
Want your pumpkins to last longer? Paint them instead of carving them! Paint a scary goblin, a funny face or a creepy cat! Use your imagination and express yourself. Want to use them for Halloween & Thanksgiving? Write a festive saying on the pumpkin that can be used throughout the season. You can also use a combo of carve and paint! Possibilities are ENDLESS!

Graffiti Clean Up - Brought to you by: 3 & 6 year olds!
Ahh, The warm sun, blue skies and fresh air! As my family and I stroll through the neighborhood my 6 year old notices a sign that needs attention. Her remedy is to bring some cleaner to remove the graffiti [making for a proud mama] we head back to that area and viola! Just think: If just a handful of people in your neighborhood participated by bringing a sponge and some cleaner or maybe even just an empty bag with you when you go on a walk - you can make a huge difference. Pick up a couple pieces of trash, clean off a spot of graffiti, sweep the play equipment at a local park and encourage others to do the same ~ Passing the idea torch :) For the short time it took for us to do this I saw 3 other families take in our acts - I even saw one family pick up some trash that was along a sidewalk! One huge round of applause for these kiddos for having the excellent attitude and volunteering a small amount of time to their community!
Check out your neighborhood association for other ways you can help too!
A city is an amazing creation. What is even more amazing is the trails that surround! YES - I am talking about the SpringWater Corridor! Walk, Jog, Bike, Horseback, explore, discover and relax. Those are a few observations I make each time I travel this 40 mile loop around Portland. Each corner brings eye catching observations that are ever changing. This year I have had the opportunity to watch lambs grow, barns falling and rebuilt, horse pastures with new life, baby rabbits rummaging through the fresh berry briers and so much more. I urge those who live or visit the Portland area to hop on the train and take in the beauty that it is. There are MANY areas to explore and so many easy access portions to the trail you cant miss it! To better help in getting on the trail look HERE. Enjoy !!!
chool is a wonderful (and easy) way to give back. Classrooms are larger than ever and programs are being cut left and right - get a few parents together and brainstorm ways to enrich your children's lives with after-school activities, neighborhood games, weekend adventures or book club meetings. Inquire within your child's school today! You can help pave the road to a brighter future!

What is in your backyard?

I have always wanted to help others stay in touch with their creative side, find that "perfect" job that they love, give tips on how to save money, stay on budget and not lose sight of what really matters ....... family and friends. With www.helpfulhen.com together we can get the information out to anyone who would like it!
Being positive has had a significant effect on how I conduct myself and interact with others. Being able to project an outgoing personality and cheery demeanor all while managing a business from home, keeping up with 2 very active children, balancing budgets and making time to spend with my husband is not an easy task with only 24 hours in a day. Having a open mind and major java seems to be key to survival. I know I am not the only person that feels this way and that is why I created this site. I know there are many families out there (especially in these economic times) that are looking for something to do with their family without spending extra money that may not be available or want to instill great family values in their children.
Whatever your reason for visiting we hope you enjoy! This is my hobby, my fun, my getaway and my gift to you! I will be uploading many more ideas and fun photos so check back often. You will get to see many faces of our community and a fresh new look at how you can stay within budget using items you already have at home. This is just the beginning of a great website! Feel free to drop us a line if you have any questions or comments. We love feedback!
